Draining and filling your Grobo unit is an important part of keeping your plant healthy. 

This process is done every seven days in order to provide your plant with nutrients and water that is fresh and at the ideal range for plant growth.

How To Drain Your Grobo


1. Open up your My Grobo App on your phone, tablet, desktop or laptop


  • Go to my.grobo.io to log into your My Grobo App to access your Grobo unit. If you have multiple Grobo units, make sure that you are on the unit that you want to drain.


2. Go to your Navigation Menu


  • Desktop: Your navigation menu will already be open on the left side of your screen.
  • Tablet & Mobile: Tap on the 3 lines icon located at the top left of your screen.


3. Select “Maintenance” then select "Drain" in the sub-menu


  • Pressing on “Drain”, will take you to a page with step-by-step instructions to help guide you through draining your Grobo unit.


4. Make sure you have an empty bucket ready


  • An empty bucket that could hold around 2 gallons (7-8L) of water is optimal for you to drain your Grobo without pausing.


5. Unlock your Grobo unit


  • Hold the user button located at the back of your Grobo for two seconds to disengage the lock in order to open the door.


6. Find the hose and place it in the empty bucket


  • Take the hose located halfway up of the Grobo on the inside left wall and place it into your empty bucket. Make sure your bucket is placed close to your Grobo and the hose is at the bottom of your bucket.


7. Press the "Drain Start" button to start draining your unit


  • Your Grobo lights will turn blue when your Grobo starts to drain, and the lights will turn back to white when draining is complete.


WARNING: Grobo will continue to drain even if your bucket is full. Make sure to keep an eye on how full your bucket is. You can always pause the drain to empty your bucket by either:


  • Pressing “Drain Pause” on your My Grobo App
  • Or by pressing the user button at the back of your Grobo


8. Once draining is complete, hang the hose back up.


  • Your Grobo unit lights should turn back to white when draining is complete. Make sure that there isn’t water left in the hose and hang it back to the inside left wall of your Grobo.


 


How To Fill Your Grobo

4. Make sure you have a bucket filled with water


  • A bucket that could hold around 2 gallons (7-8L) of water is optimal for you to fill your Grobo without pausing. 


TIP: Use distilled or reverse osmosis water for your Grobo. These types of water don’t contain impurities or chemicals compared to regular tap water.


5. Unlock your Grobo unit


  • Hold the user button located at the back of your Grobo for two seconds to disengage the lock in order to open the door.


6. Find the hose and place in the empty bucket


  • Take the hose located halfway up of the Grobo on the inside left wall and place it into your bucket. Make sure your bucket is placed close to your Grobo and the hose is at the bottom of your bucket.


7. Press the "Fill Start" button to start filling your unit


  • Your Grobo lights will turn green when your Grobo starts to fill, and the lights will turn back to white when filling is complete.
  • If you require multiple buckets of water, you can pause filling by:
    • Pressing “Fill Pause” on your My Grobo App
    • or by pressing the user button at the back of your Grobo


8. Once draining is complete, hang the hose back up.


  • Your Grobo unit lights should turn back to white when filling is complete. Make sure that there isn’t water left in the hose and hang it back to the inside left wall of your Grobo.


 


Note: Your Grobo will not fill up all the way. The maximum it will fill is to the top sensor. This level will change based on the growth stage of your plant. For example, when your plant starts to root, the water level will be to the second sensor as that is all the plant needs to grow. Please DO NOT manually top up the water level at any point. Your Grobo knows what the water level should be - leave it to your unit!
